What's the Best Superhero Movie Made So Far?

Apple iPad, Star Wars Sitcom, Iron Man 2 Site, Red Sonja, 3D That Sucks

Okay, so I never got around to those "Flashforward" and "V" recaps.  Maybe I will tomorrow or maybe I'll just skip a week.  We'll see.

APPLE IPAD NEWS BLOWOUT!!!
As I'm sure you know, the Apple iPad went on sale last Saturday, April 3rd.  As if you needed another reason to hurry out and buy one, here are some pretty cool stories that caught my eye:

Marvel Comics has released a new app for the iPad that some say could completely revitalize the comic industry.  It's a new comics reader from a company called Panelfly; Marvel says the digital versions have been "optimized" for iPad viewing and the early buzz is that they look great.  At $1.99 an issue, I'm sold on this idea.  There are a ton of e-Readers out there but the iPad is the only device I know of that can show full color comics and allow you to flip pages with a swipe of your finger.  Truly, truly awesome in my book.  You can read more about it on Yahoo! here.

And guess who else is jumping on the iPad/comic book bandwagon?  IDW, the current publisher of all Star Trek comics (as well as G.I. Joe and Transformers) has announced that they've optimized their current iPhone/iPod Touch app for use with the iPad, as well.  I don't know if it's as cool as Marvel's new app but it's awesome news, nonetheless.

Speaking of Star Trek, am I the only one who sees the obvious comparison between the iPad and Star Trek's own PADD?  Well, guess what?  Now you can have the best of both worlds:

Someone Had to Do It: The Star Trek iPADD.

Meet the "Captain's Log" app for iPad.  There's really not much too it--it's just a LCARS themed social networking app but, still, it set my heart aflutter.  Must have!

And, finally, on the Apple iPad front, it was discovered this week that Apple has filed a patent application for a gamepad accessory.  It's no secret that Apple has been seriously touting its iPhone, iPod Touch, and now the iPad as gaming systems and they've already started to make a dent in the marketshare currently controlled by the Nintendo DS (and, to some small extent, the Sony PSP).  Now, if you're familiar with patent filings you'll know that this doesn't really mean anything.  Companies regularly file patents "just in case" and many of them never even come to fruition.  But from what I gather, the touchscreen is a major gripe of those who do play games on their Apple devices so if this accessory does hit the market, it could help Apple grab even more of the portable gaming market.

Lucasfilm Developing Star Wars Sitcom--No, Really
In what has to be the stupidest news I've heard in a long, long time, Variety reports today that Lucasfilm is creating an animated Star Wars comedy show.  Scared yet?  Lucasfilm also says that Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, creators of the utterly unwatchable shit-fest "Robot Chicken", will have "creative involvement".  No network or air dates were announced.  And, of course, this is in addition to the "Clone Wars" animated series currently airing on Cartoon Network, the long-in-development live-action Star Wars series, AND the recently announced animated Star Wars show for pre-schoolers.  Personally, I thought The Phantom Menace was comedy enough...

Official Iron Man 2 Website Now Live
The website for Iron Man 2 is now up and running, although most areas are still "coming soon".  There are a few gems throughout, though, definitely making it worth a peek.  There's also a link in the "Extras" section of the site that will take you to the website for StarkExpo 2010--pretty cool stuff.  I'd bookmark this one and check back in the coming weeks, if I were you.

Rose McGowan's Out But Red Sonja Is On
In case you didn't know, Rose McGowan is signed now to co-star in the new Conan movie but she's NOT playing Red Sonja, the part Robert Rodriguez wanted her to play in the Red Sonja movie.  But while the Rodriguez version of Red Sonja has fallen apart, Millineum Films is moving on with plans to find a new writer and director to make the movie anyway.  And who do they want for the lead role?  Megan Fox!  I'll watch anything if it means I get to see Megan Fox in a skimpy outfit so I say, "hell yes"!

Why Post-Conversion 3D Sucks
MrDisgusting over at Bloody Disgusting has a great article up about why post-conversion 3D (like what was used in last weekend's Clash of the Titans remake) sucks and what the differences are.  I highly recommend this article to everyone!!!!!!
